Detailed Description of the Pilot Project " Greening Kurland Village” will have as its central focus of Greening Kurland Village will involve the planting of indigenous trees and shrubs along the road verges and amongst the villagers dwellings. New green open spaces that are welcoming and relaxing will be created within the village. A further aim is to plant lemon trees in the backyards of all dwellings and to establish a central community organic food growing garden where, amongst other things, plants such as garlic and ginger will be grown for free distribution to household kitchens and the AIDS clinic. It is widely known that these natural organically grown foods contribute towards strengthening the immune system against the AIDS virus and other diseases. Trees, plants and equipment for the project are being donated by local nurseries and businesses. The project also has its own nursery where trees and plants of various kinds are being propagated for distribution in the village. This greening initiative will provide hope and inspiration for the young and elderly alike. The practical nature of the project will enable pople to meet on ground that transcends political, social cultural differences. Our work together will be imbued above all with tolerance and humour!
